Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology and the Scientific Program Committee, it is my honor and pleasure to invite you to the 2016 APAO Congress in Chinese Taipei.

This year, we are holding the APAO Congress in conjunction with the 57th Annual Meeting of the Ophthalmological Society of Chinese Taipei. Bringing together ophthalmologists around the world, the APAO 2016 will feature over 500 internationally recognized speakers presenting their latest work and scientific innovations covering all the major subspecialties. An attendance figure of around 5,000 delegates is anticipated.

Meetings like this also provide delegates with an excellent occasion to network and look for collaborative opportunities. I wish you would enjoy your stay in the beautiful city of Taipei and cherish the friendships made.

We assure you a memorable and educationally superior meeting, and I look forward to seeing you in Taipei in March 2016!

With best regards,

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the APAO meeting in Taipei.

As both guest and co-host of this meeting, I feel we are walking along the silk route as Marco Polo described in his book “Il Milione,” where East meets West. Although Marco Polo learned many new and exciting things in the Orient, he also contributed his knowledge and experiences to the Far East.

As ophthalmologists, we need to be open minded to gather and share new insights in our field to let our patients benefit from the cross fertilization of knowledge. While in Taipei, enjoy the many opportunities for international friendship.
